Did you know that today marks the traditional Lunar New Year for several Asian cultures? I didn't until I saw Google's logo today, which symbolizes the Year of the Rat. It is the first of the 12-year cycle of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar. The rat is associated with aggression, wealth, charm, and order, yet also associated with death, war, the occult, pestilence, and atrocities. Just a little tidbit for you incase you were wondering what the Google logo meant like I was. :)

Our featured post today comes from shamarkaleo, who wonders if hosting your blog on your site helps the page rank. She used to think since there is free hosting space out there, like Blogger, then why not use it? But now, she isn't so sure. What's your opinion?

As far as the remaining posts go, the first needs a little clarification with lower metrics and higher traffic. The second post has a duplicate site penalty question. And today's final post needs help with denied access to a web hosting account.

Hosted Blog- PR Builder?

I'm about to showcase my ignorance in a spectacular way. But I'd really like some clarification on this, so here's my question:

Does hosting your blog on your web site increase the site's page rank?

I've been told that hosting a blog on your site (as in: www.mysite.com/blog) will raise the site's PR, and boost all the site's other pages in SERPs.
