Portent Interactive Honored For Good Advertising

By Doug Caverly

If you've got lots of time, money, and patience, there's always a "learn by doing" method. But a "learn by watching" approach can be much more efficient, and as far as email advertising goes, Portent Interactive seems to be a company worth studying.

At MarketingSherpa's Email Summit award ceremony, Portent was presented with an Honorable Mention in the Best Email Opt-in Campaign (B2B) category. The Summit was attended by around 800 email marketers, and there were over 300 contest entries, so competition was stiff.

A formal statement explained Portent's approach. "Portent's winning momAgenda campaign focused on: increasing subscriptions for the email house list, increasing click-thru and open rates, and ultimately, boosting e-commerce," according to the company.

Also, in terms of success, "Portent was able to increase momAgenda's subscriber list by 6,626 subscribers, or 828 per month since the campaign started last May. The creative campaign revealed other clear results as well: doubled click-thru rates, open rates, and a jump in revenue from last year's earnings."

Sounds nice, no? Now, without stealing all of Portent's computers or planting a mole, it may not be possible to find out exactly how those results were achieved. Portent has a pretty active corporate blog, however, and there's nothing to stop you from reading it and watching the company's other public moves.
